I have freezing problems with my new G5 Dual 2.0 when any firewire drive is connected. I recently had the logic board replaced but it does not help the situation. Anyone else have this problem. I tried re-formatting all drives, updating their firmware, etc. They work fine on all other macs. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated Pro Tools 6.4 HD 3 Mac Dual 2.0 Ghz 1.5 megs ram
Jimi, Thank you so much for responding. What do you do? Right now I am running sessions off of an internal 10K SATA drive. But I do a lot of projects where people bring me their firewire drives. I don't want to have to copy all the files over and then back again. What is your solution? Mark
What OS version are you using? Maybe try the latest if you're not already there. Are you using FW800? Just FW400? Problems on the front FW port as well? Just trying to narrow it down.
Wow - you have EXACTLY the same problem I have, even in two ports I get freezes, though- I do suspect this is a Panther issue now. Well, I can stop complaining to my mac tech. It does not seem to be an internal hardware issue.
The weird thing is my Powerbook G4 used to have the problem worse than my Powermac G4 but now it seems the Powerbook G4 works almost every time and has become fairly reliable with one drive. I'm curious what enclosures you are using as that may have something to do with the problems we are having. All 3 of my enclosures are ADS Tech and the oldest of the 3 works the best and the 2 newer ones are the giving me the most trouble. I suspect that there are certain enclosures that are causing more problems than others.
