@Dark-Cracker, I just want to ask about your generic XviD profile for 1-CD and 2-CD which you use in your AutoDub. How do you get those setting ? by your experience ? or suggestion from someone in the forum or ? Thank you.
hi, cool a thread with my name :) :) for the Xvid profil i have read a lot of explanation in the Xvid forum on the "Alt CC options explained" by OUTPinged, and "Hardcoding alt CC settings" by Acaila i have make a lot of test for findind the best setting with the information i have read (thank u to all the users who have answer in these 2 thread) and i think the my generic profil are very good for the Xvid :) 1Cd profil (2pass) : -------------------- Min I : 2 Max I : 3 Min P : 2 Max P : 12 Search : 6 Quant : H263 HintME Hight bit : 0 Low bit : 10 delay : 300 Payback Bias Agression : Medium Hight D : 150 Low D : 75 Auto Min Qual Strenght : 50 Bonus bias 2Cd profil (2pass) : -------------------- Min I : 2 Max I : 6 Min P : 2 Max P : 18 Search : 5 Quant : MPEG HintME Boost Keyframe : 10 Hight bit : 10 Low bit : 25 delay : 300 Payback Bias Agression : Medium Hight D : 200 Low D : 100 Auto Min Qual Strenght : 50 Bonus bias Why have u post this thread ? u don't thrust my profils ? have u some problems with these settings ? or it was only for your knowledge :) ? Bye
@koepi again :) my 1cd profil is used for 1pass(cbr) and 2pass(both) mode it for that i have some very agressive value (of course very usefull for 1pass mode) i have make some test and in 1pass mode the final size was often oversized with a low agression.(it for that i use a meduim) u have much experience than me in the Xvid settings do u think i must separate my generic profil for 1pass mode and 2pass (both) mode ? with a lower qantization for pframe and using 5-15 for the hight bit ? @all if u have and idear to improve my generic profile, post the values (but keep in mind these values must be generic) Thank u :) :) :) bye Ps: koepi can i use a part of you guide to explain the setting in autodub for the Xvid and Divx3 codec ?
Hi, well, I think the different encode modes need different profiles :-/ For 1pass CBR it shouldn't have any effect? I have to look into the sources for that again :) But for 2pass 1CD I really prefer low over medium/high aggression. (And sometimes it really depends on the movie or the quality you want to achieve - for _my_ taste low works greatest, but other people have other preferences.) Ah, and I totally forgot about your last PM, was too busy :-( Sure, include it if you want to! :) Best regards, Koepi
Hi all! My "generic" settings for XviD 2 pass, set only in "2pass 2nd pass Int." dialogue and encoded through Vidomi is next: All default but: Global Tab - 6 (Ultra High), MPEG, 250/5, Lumi enabled Quantiz. Tab - 2,6,2,12 Alt. Curve Tab - Low, 100, 100, strenght = 25 This goes for 1CD encodes and is preffered after different testings on a clip (52 sec, 5Mb final size). Xvid is Koepi`s latest. P.S. I set Qantization to 2,3,2,6 in one of my tests but was not so happy with result. It showed few more macroblocks than above settings. Why could it be so or maybe I`ve done too many tests and mixed up something? And another observation. Do I really have to make different settings for 1 and 2 CD encodes? If I encode movie to 2 CD`s instead of 1, I`ll get much higher bitrate and picture will be fantastic (let`s say it`s a 100 min movie). What do I get with different settings then? More quality? I doubt.
Dear Dark-Cracker and all, Although I usually do 2 cd rips, I tried a 1 CD rip with only a little modification of your settings, and the result was really impressing though the movie I encoded was a long and challenging one imo (Blues Brothers, 2:27 hr. / almost no macroblocks even in the famous chuch/dancing scenes, etc.) Resolution: 448x240 (since it is a 2:27hr 1CD rip ) Resize: soft bicubic (Also, I used Vorbis 1.0 with BeSweet, which I guess is really superb in quality) Anyway, my settings for Xvid (30062002-Koepi's) 2 pass VBR were: 1st pass: Motion: 6.Ultra High Quant: H.263 No lumi masking Hinted Me End credits: Quant 20 2nd pass: -Global Motion: 6.Ultra High Quant: H.263 Lumi masking enabled -Quantization Min/Max I frame: 2-3 Min/Max P frame: 2-6 -Two Pass Compression High: 10 Low: 10 Payback delay: 300 Bias Hinted Me -Alt Curve Agression: Low High: 150 Low: 75 Strength: 50 bonus bias enabled -credits: Quant: 20 Result: no oversize and almost no visible macroblocks - watched on TV :) Thanks for sharing your generic profiles and best regards... iago

Keep on good work DCracker, but, for now, I`ll stick to simple solutions (Vidomi). After many experiments with SBC, Gordian Knot, Avisynth, vfapi etc. I lost my nerves a little. And my advice to you is to try to make it all in one proggy (at least one installation routine for all proggies). Best luck!
