Hi, I just bought a '90 GLE760 V6 B280E complete car which I intended to wreck for spares for my current '89 GLE760 V6 B280E. It has an original Volvo tp7145 and sr7345 audio system which I wanted to transfer to my car but unfortunately I don't know what the security code (6 digits) is and the previous owner can't remember. How do I go about getting the code? Let me know if any members require spares for this car. I am in New Zealand though. Cheers.
Hi, You can't save both of them?? :) You will need to get to a dealer with the reg number or VIN number for the car with the stereo... If that fails to bring the correct code, then I suspect that you'll need the serial number and part number (on the back of the unit) and a dealer trip again.. Des. . . ;)
Thanks. Checking with the dealer now. I too think that the car is just too good to be taken for parts. The body is mint and no skin rashes. Comes with cruise control too. The engine runs very smoothly, start first time, no visible engine oil leaks, and no smoke. The only issue is that the coolant tank appear to have been contaminated with a layer of oil. Would overfilling of the engine oil (by the previous owner) cause this or is it something more serious? I noticed that the engine oil level was way too much. I am going to attempt to flush the engine and radiator and see how it goes before deciding her fate. CT
Dealer told me that they can do a trace of the code from the VIN. Yes, the audio system is original. He also said that it is possible that the code is at the back of the audio system. Any idea? I don't really want to take the system out if the code is not at the back of the audio system. Cheers.
I got the code from the dealer but I now have a problem keying the code in. When I turn on the power to the audio system, I now have an "OFF' on the display. I wonder whether I have tried too many times prior to getting the code. Is there a reset button somewhere as I cant find it. Thanks for any help. CT
I have a funny suspicion that to reset the code acceptance thing you have to turn the radio on, with the ignition on for about an hour to reset it. Obviously you need to have everthing else off or you;ll flatten the battery. I'm sure this is in the handbook somewhere
