r3mix and standard

Hi i just want to know which bitrate range the following presets come out usually: --preset r3mix and --alt-preset standard or is there a program which checks an mp3 file and gives you the average bitrate or range ? and just some details about the r3mix preset...is it vbr? abr ?

According to milions of posts and tests :) at "--alt-preset standard" worth MUCH the little bitrate gain, it's a very experienced setting, use it.

i just found the -r3mix preset recommended in the new TDX2k2 rules...therefore i used it

I saw that also and commented about it in the TDX2k2 thread. I think that this just shows that they are about 9 months behind. While they might be able to argue about their other requirements there is no way they can justify using --r3mix.

so what would you suggest for 1cd and 2cd rips ? i am still asking myself which preset to use... abr, vbr, r3mix ....

I use ABR 128 for a 1cd rip. If the movie is already approaching 2 hours you can do ABR 112 if you want. For a 2cd if the ac3 is 192kbps then you can just keep that one, else APS Standard is good. Some people may not agree with what else I do...I downmix from 48kHz to 44.1kHz because SSRC is good at that and it sounds the same to me.
