AC3 audio not decoding when interleaved..

I created a DIVX5 movie with no sound, and using DVD2AVI's outputed ac3 soundtrack, I used both a hacked AC3 version of VirtualDub and Nandub to direct stream copy the AC3 soundtrack to the video, but now when it plays it will not decode into true 5.1. Playing the AC3 file only either in MediaPlayer or CinePlayer ( which I use to watch DVD's or DIVX movies ) my SS receiver has no problem decoding the audio only track into true 5.1. But when interleaved with the video it won't decode it. What's happening here? Thanks:D

OK. So I read some stuff about either using BSPlayer or PowerDivx. So I downloaded BSPlayer and ran the interleaved video, and the sound still wasn't DD, however in BSPlayer there is an option to open the audio file seperatly and doing this made it work fine! Does this mean I have to use BSPlayer, and I don't need to interleave the audio, since its playing it from the AC3 file directly. I'm new to this encoding stuff, but I don't know why so much attention is paid to the MP3 side of the audio. I can't stand watching movies without full DTS or DD sound, but all the DIVX encoders seem to treat DD sound as an afterthought. Is there any DIVX encoder programs that allow the DIVX to be encoded with AC3 audio directly, as opposed to adding it afterwards? Thanks again.

Even more to work with. I wiped my drive and started anew, installed the DIVX5.02 Pro player, and Doom9's filter pack. I also installed PowerDVD XP. I used Nandub to interleave the audio AC3 track, and Power DVD would play the video but I couldn't hear anything. My Digital Out is selected in the Creative menu, as is use SPDIF in PowerDVD. Neither Media Player or PowerDVD would play just he AC3 audio file in a true 5.1 format out to my receiver. Then I installed Cineplayer again, which is what I had been using before, and voila, now Media player, PowerDVD and Cineplayer can all play the AC3 file in a way that my receiver can now decode it into 5.1 None of the three however will play back the actual AC3 interleaved AVI that Nandub created. So, obviously Cineplayer added some dll. or audio codec that now allows everything to play the AC3 in a form that can be decoded. Does PowerDVD not have this file/setting? And why oh why can't the interleaved AVI be decoded dammit!! The video turned out so well its killing me that I can't have the audio too. HELP!!!!

@ryankenn, Please make sure you interleave the AVI - AC3 with Nandub, with 500/64 (preload/every ..ms) and the the correct delay with the correct sign (-/+). Then... install this filter pack : make sure you unpack and move all files to your Windows\System (win9x) or WinNT\System32 (win2000/xp)... run the register.bat batch file. Now... try play again your AVI, use MediaPlayer first or even BSplayer. Hope it may help you.

New problem 

Finally. Thanks, I don't know if it was the rate or the filter pack, but now at least in BSPlayer, the OKIO ADuio ( Weird name ) is selectable at lets my interleaved movie play in true 5.1. I could finally delete the VOB's and burn it, yeeehaaa. Now on to the new stuff. I also got The Time Machine to work fine, and I had rented Sleepy Hollow as well to do it too. Time Machine is working fine, but Sleepy Hollow after the DVD2AVI is saved, the AC3 track cause whatever I try to play it in to crash. Its not that it just won't play, neither did the other one, but its the fact its actually crashing the programs. Is it just a weird anomaly, and I should just encode and interleave to see? I don't want to waste 8 hours to find that it won't work and this is a movie that has issues. This brings me to another point. Is their a list somewhere of DVD's that have known problems, at the layer switch, or audio problems? 2 out of 3 work fine so far for me, but it brings the question that some do have some problems. Is their a list, or does anyone have a list of personal experiences they can post of movies that gave them problems in GNOT etc? Finally, the Time Machine has a DTS soundtrack that shows as SDDS in the INFO file from Smartripper. I tried selecting that track in DVD2AVI and it created a project but didn't actually rip the audio off. In the window it showed that it knew it was DTS, but no sound. Is there a cracked or original program yet that can rip and interleave DTS sound? If not, why not? Its just another audio track or about the same size as the AC3 one? Is their a wonky encoding or did they purposely make it tricky to strip. Thanks!!!

Do you need to have exact 500/64ms to get AC3 to decode correctly? I have been using 128/128 for most of my backups. I am still at the only getting at the stage of getting 2channels from my SPDIF but havent tried all the filter options yet. Thanks

make sure you have mpegaudio.ax registered. mpegaudio.ax is the filter that lets directshow make sense of AC3 audio multiplexed in an AVI it should be in that filter pack
