Hi all, I know this question has probably been asked to death, but I'm still coming up empty. I am desperately looking for GOOD midi drum loops! I don't want Groovemonkey's barband loops, they are ridiculous. I'm looking for complex and sophisticated grooves/loops that I can learn from and tweak. Any help is super appreciated! I use Battery 3 and love its sound and interface. I've been trying out BFD2 and I like its selection of grooves/loops, but I feel it's just bloated software with muddy sound and a goofy interface (nice sequencer though!). I wish I could import Battery's samples into BFD to use it's sequencer and premade loops - is that possible, BTW? I can't see how to do it if it is. Or maybe just use BFD's loops in Battery? Also can't see how that would be done. Thanks for the help, I know this it OT to Reaper, but I have faith in my comrades here.

Those Oddgrooves are very hip, indeed, thanks for the tip (Groovemonkey... sheesh!). They are very jazzy, in fact. I wouldn't ascribe them to the likes of art-rock or Zappa at all, to my mind. But no matter, they are certainly what I was looking for, so thanks again. Also, I was informed that in BFD, the addon packs have the grooves as standard midi files (wouldn't ya know it). It seems I didn't drill down deep enough, is all. So I'll see what I can do with them, too. And if anyone else has any info or sources for complex midi drum loops, please, do tell!!!

Well, sure, you'll have to take your chances as far as having the midi maps line up as in the original. But really, how far off are they going to be? Most midi maps for drums are typical, i.e., snares, toms, cymbals, hihats, all lining up pretty much in the same slots. The only thing that needs to be attended to then, would be what exact hit are you getting? For example, are you getting the splash instead of the bell, or closed instead of open hihat, etc. So far, with what I have listened to as samples, to make sure everything is producing some sound, I have heard things that are pretty pleasing! And actually, you get some suprisingly nice results by chance - one loop lined up the scrape where the cymbal ride should have been - and that sounded pretty cool, I must say! And it certainly isn't something I would have thought to do myself - you get my meaning? That's what music is about, experimentation and discovering new things, right? Hacking midi files from one app to another in ways they weren't intended to be done, you get what you expect! But you just might like it more than you expected! 8^)
There is also : it provides you realtime drum-midi playing that automatically matches what you are doing with your master-key (via MIDI) or Guitar (via AUDIO). You can also record his sequences or program it.
Take two dull midi drum loops of different styles/tempo. Glue them together, and then time stretch them......doesn't always work, but can come up with some radically different loops. Or delete the top few hits of the loop, and then paste in from another loop.
