1998 2.0T Not Starting

Jumped in the car this morning to drive off, turned the key, all the lights came on as expected, the starter motor turned over, but the beast refuses to fire. It comes close, but doesn't catch and go. I have had issues in the past where the car needed quite a bit of throttle to keep it running when cold, so it may be related to whatever is causing that? I (think I) can hear the fuel pump going, so I don't think it's that, have not checked the spark plugs, which was my next avenue of investigation. Any more suggestions of things to check, or ideas what may be the problem? Thanks!

Hi, Try a look at the sparks to make sure they (one of them) sparks, and to see/smell if fuel is reaching them.. Des. . . ;)

check the leads and coil pack to for any signs of break up

try wipeing your spark plug leads and caps i had the same probiem a couple of weeks ago i sprayed everything with wd40 left half hour cracked up first turn of the key
