I,ve been doing alot of hip hop work. now I'm building hip hop songs from scratch. I'm wondering about construction of the song. What is the average amount of measures for a verse before a break/chorus I'm thinking in terms of being radio friendly. Also while I am on the subject of song construction what is the average radio friendly overall time
your right I just need to study the format a little more. I was wondering if it was as rigid as song format. some of the old school stuff goes on forever 2pac stuff and the newer more pop friendly seems more of a format. My friends stuff seems really long 11 measures to the first break so I was thinking of telling him to shorten it but I don't know.
verses an average of at least 16bars / hooks 8 bars always/ a bridge if you like those which are 8 bars and place them any where after the first hook usually right after a hook thats about it build your song from there
Oh yea and the last hook should be the most impacting one in the song you may wanna play it twice 2x8/16bars. On that hook there should be more backround vocals and stuff like that
