Steering Wheel

Hi guys, how are you all doing. Today i got my new S/S exhaust system fitted aswell as a new cat, droplinks and finally got her re-tracked. The tracking was out quite a bit. My mate, didnt charge me to check and adjust the tracking, although since it has been done, the steering wheel now sits off centre, when the car is going in a straight line. I was wondering how easy is it just to unbolt the steering wheel enough, to allow you to remove is enough off the steering column, and move it around enogh so that it was sitting straight and tighten it back up again. The only reason i am asking is that i have never worked on the steering wheel before, that has had a air bag in it. I would like to do this task if possible with out dissconecting the battery, as eachtime i dissconect, the alarm goes of for several minutes due to the alarm system that is fitted. If somebody could advise me as to the best way to remove the steering wheel, i would appreciate it. Regards Stuart

hi mate, I would be more inclined towards getting tracking re-done with steering wheel set straight b4 tracing is done. as in my expierience if this happens it's because steering wheel was not locked dead central b4 tracking was checked and aligned. ben

When my C70 was delivered the steering wheel was slightly offset and fitting it to another spline just made it offset the other way. I learned to live with it until some months later I got it tracked and the offset disapeared! So I'd agree - get it rechecked, unless of course someone has had the wheel off in the past and not put it back correctly
