Guitar Connections & Track Commands

I'm attempting to connect my guitar through my amp to one of the 5-8 inputs(Digi 002 Rack). No signal! I'm using a TRS, balanced cable from the phones jack in the amp to the rack. Nothing. However, I am able to get sound when connecting the guitar straight(no amp) to mic/line/inst inputs 1-4, but I can't use the amp's features that way. Help! Also, what command is used to put a drum loop in time? Cutting and pasting takes too long.

What kind of amp are you using? Is there a line out on the back, or a speaker out?

Practice amp... Crate MX20RC Yeah, there is a speaker out, in the front though. I tried that with no success.
