Complete front brake disc & caliper overhaul

I replaced my 440 discs at the weekend and used a bi - hex 17mm socket and 3 extension bars (total approx 4ft) for the carrier bolts and they all came off with a real loud 'crack',my neighbour was much amused by the old exhaust pipe and jacking handle i used for leverage. My 12 point socket certainly seemed to take the strain ok,phew !! cheers baz

I changed my front discs recently on my 480. The two bolts you mention were hard work. I used a long breaker bar & then a two foot length of scaffold pole to extend it. Then & only then with my full weight (11st) balancing & bouncing:grn-content: did they give. (car was safetly on axle stands) My difficulty was removing the disc positioning screws. One came out with an impact driver. But on the N/S I broke the driver by whacking it too hard with my lump hammer LOL. Had to drill the screw out, which I did not enjoy at all! Latest MOT, told me that the rear discs are due....................... dreading that!
