Megadeth Cover - Feedback requested

Hi All, I'm working on a cover of "Dread and the Fugitive Mind" by Megadeth and am looking for some constructive criticism. Here're a few notes: - The small lead part around 2:10 is going to be redone. It doesn't fit in the mix, but I don't quite know why. Suggestions? - The main solo from the original song isn't on here yet, as my buddy is going to do it. Same with vocals. - The whole song has been sped up a touch and dropped down a full step to D (from E, of course.) I'm looking for comments on the mix so far, as well as the quality of the performance. This is very much a work in progress, but want to get what I have nailed down (as much as possible) before putting the solo and vocals over everything. Thanks for listening! !!!VIKINGGUITAR!!!

Love it! Nice guitar sound. What's your signal chain? Seems like that lead needs less verb to bring it forward a little, otherwise it sounds good.

I agree, less reverb on the lead, and possibly drop the volume a bit. It sounds too "pretty" in there with all of thrashy guitars. Also, ++1 to telling us what you used for the guitar tone. Edit: I just realized that you've pretty much nailed Roy Z's tone on the Dickinson albums from Accident of Birth on. Nice work.

Holy Crap...I gotta get a GearBox. The only problem I have is with the tone of the guitar lead...I am not familiar with the original though. That may be how the original sounds. The reverb just sounds out of place. I would try it dry and if that didn't work, I would try Loser's Stereo plug-in. Are the drums live? If so, then the mix is excellent. Did you double track the guitars? Nice separation. It's been a while since I've used Ozone. Good job so far. SW

great guitar tone, sounds brutal. nothing more to add to the others apart from being a bit unconvinced by the hats, I'd presonally prefer them a bit dryer and i guess more upfront in a way. they sound a bit woolly. but other than that, sounds great.
