BRAND NEW MAC\'S...........PRO TOOLS...........a number of questions???

Go to Apple store, select the base machine...733 change the CPU ...u can choose the 733, the 867 or the dual but u dont have to have all the rest of the stuff the hiend machines have for much much less. Get 512meg of ram from a reputable dealer such as macgurus.com ....... dont buy extra ram from Apple ATTO UltraWide SCSI host controller not sure about UK stores. Dual monitor..hmm NOT an Apple LCD. The new SGI FD18 look great, have industry standard DVI and VGA connectors. Still waiting on a reply fomr Appian, they have mentioned releasing a Dual DVI graphix display card. Targon

stay away from the dual machine unless Digi can guarantee it will run with both processors ON! Tim

I use new 733 for video.. but does not work on PT...the old on does and ...there is no dual dvi apg card....jeronimo is still only card for dual on apg that is digi oked...also the old atto epic dc dual is not happy on the new mac ,And that is the only digi oked scusi card.....

digi isnt gonna give the ok on the new machines for weeks if not months. you can get an "OLD" machine 733mgz from a company called unitek for $1550.00 and it will work. digi has approved it already. keep in mind there is a new video card and it may have conflicts. Untill digi says ok i would not buy one. The new machine does not have the backside cache the old ones do. why would you need to spend another grand for another 100+ mgz. you will never notice the difference. thats my two cents
